Successful Convening of the Evaluation Meeting for Six New Products from Beijing Glass Steel Institute and Tianjin Sinoma Composites

On December 23, the evaluation meeting for new products developed under the "Key Core Technology Tackling and Demonstration Application" project of the China National Building Materials Group, organized by the China Composites Industry Association, was held in Beijing. Six new products from Beijing Glass Steel Institute and Tianjin Sinoma Composites participated in the evaluation. After rigorous assessment, four of the six new products reached the international leading level in their respective categories, one reached the domestic leading level, and one reached the domestic advanced level.

Fifteen professors, experts, and scholars from Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Beijing Tianhai Hydrogen Energy, Beijing Institute of Technology, South China University of Technology, Beijing Satellite Manufacturing Factory, the organizing unit, and the project unit attended the evaluation meeting. The meeting was hosted by Meng Yijie, Secretary-General of the China Composites Industry Association.

During the meeting, the evaluation committee carefully listened to the research work and technical summaries, product testing, technology novelty searches, and user reports for the six products. The experts gave full affirmation to the innovative achievements of these new products and engaged in in-depth discussions with the professional and technical personnel on product development details and application promotion, providing valuable suggestions and recommendations. The expert group unanimously agreed that the four products—10,000-meter composite pressure-resistant shell, ultra-low-density buoyancy compensation material, marine glass fiber composite protective cover, and marine sandwich composite cabin cover—all reached the international leading level in their respective categories; the deepwater structure insulation material product reached the domestic leading level; and the 1,000-meter composite pressure-resistant shell product reached the domestic advanced level.

In her concluding remarks, Secretary-General Meng congratulated Beijing Glass Steel Institute and Tianjin Sinoma Composites on their achievements and thanked the experts for their hard work. As leading enterprises in the industry, the scientific and technological achievements made by Beijing Glass Steel Institute and Tianjin Sinoma Composites have promoted technological progress throughout the industry. Facing the current downward trend in the industry, which could be described as a reshuffle or a return to normalcy, quite a number of enterprises may struggle to survive. In such circumstances, as leading enterprises, they must maintain their resolve and not slow down or stop innovating due to difficulties. Secretary-General Meng hoped that Beijing Glass Steel Institute and Tianjin Sinoma Composites would make more contributions to enterprises and the industry on the path of innovation in their future development.
